Can you answer this: Using page builders like elementor and plugins like Essential adds on for elementor can increases page size?
I’m using Ocean WP and Elementor + some additional plugins for elementor and my site speed is perfect but the page size is a little bigger (1.8 MB). So, what can I do?
Page loading can be affected by additional plugins, as they often load their assets, it all depends of the way you approach the building of your website. Personally speaking, I tend to use OceanWP with Elementor, and the use of additional addons remains out of my workflow. The less plugins I run, the better.
I would suggest you to use a caching plugin such as WP Rocket, and setup accordingly, it will definitely help on page load.

As for the “issue” mentioned, you can resolve it by using a child theme and then copying the partials/entry/readmore.php file from the theme into to child theme’s folder following the same path, then adding: target=”_blank” into the link.

Hello, disabled plugins shouldn’t have any bearing on your website’s performance. However, for security reasons and best practices, if you’re not planning to use those plugins any time sooner, it would really be best to remove them from your website

Great performance tips Justin. The speed of a website these days is so important, especially considering that Google has switched focus from desktop to mobile first with all the different devices people uses nowadays to access the internet.
Keeping plugins to a minimum I would say is a big plus as too many can certainly slow you down as well as causing additional issues.

Hii, actually I have built a website a few days ago, it’s a travel blog, and I used Elementor for this project. But the website is a bit slow, or you could say it’s way too slow. And I don’t know what’s the reason behind it, I used compressed images, no more than 80-100kb, and I kept the page layout super simple, just images, text, and buttons. I read in this post that Eelementor is what makes a WordPress website slower. It needs to be optimized. Is that right?
For normal blogs, I’d rather say focus on how fast your posts can load. I’ve worked for a few clients who wanted a creative blog, but they mainly focused on the design of the blog, and eventually, the homepage became heavier over time. And now they have complaints about the homepage size, but they don’t realize is that the posts are the main elements of a blog, they’re the reason why people will come to a blog and then visit the homepage and other pages. A great example that I can give you is a website about Grand Canyon.
See, they didn’t waste their time on design and other things, their motive is to deliver information to the user as fast as they can.

Hello Aladin, thanks for stopping by. Indeed, some settings may break the layout (CSS mainly) but the problem is resolve as soon as the applied changes are undone. Each website is different, and whether an optimization/caching plugin setting will break the layout depends on multiple factors, including CDN settings. Therefore, it is important to find the optimal combination and of course, test the website’s functionality after applying specific settings
